SOLD OUT
Host Venue: Empire Cinema, Leicester Square

The Festival

The British Horror Film Festival is in its fourth year and what an incredible line up it has! We have films from all over the world, and obviously some amazing home-grown talent from right here in the UK. Also, this year we are working with Haunted: After Dark as our Official Sponsor, which is fantastic!

The Festival provides opportunities for independent filmmakers to have their films screened at great red carpet-style venues to a passionate audience of film professionals, film students, journalists and the general public. The Festival aims to promote and support independent filmmaking.

There are a number of awards up for grabs at the Festival, including the prestigious British Horror Award for Achievement in Film on a Low Budget.

There will, of coure, be a top quality after-party. We like to go out with a bang after all. This year's after-party will be held at The Hippodrome, so come along for some creepy cocktails and demonic dance moves...

Best Screenplay Award goes to...

Department 18 by Mick Sims

We would like to congratulate Mick Sims for winning the Best Screenplay award at this year's British Horror Film Festival. There will be a reading from the script at the awards ceremony, as well as a chance to chat to Mick at the after-party. For a brief idea about Department 18, check out the synopsis below:

Department 18 is a Government unit that investigates reported paranormal and supernatural incidents. It is at www.dept18.com

The script is based on incidents from the first two Department 18 novels of Maynard Sims (Black Cathedral and Night Souls) - www.maynard-sims.com

Top psychic, Robert Carter attends what is meant to be a routine poltergeist sighting. What is unleashed is a centuries old demon that uses Ley lines to move around, causing mayhem.

Heading up a specialist team, Robert has the single brief of find and destroy this demon. It has hidden in a luxury apartment block in the city. The team search every room before they encounter the demon - hidden in a supernatural cathedral, hollowed out and inhabited by other demons and souls of their victims.

En route, the team face many dangers with Robert trying his best to keep them all alive. Ultimately, the building is as much the enemy as the evil that inhabits it.
